Linguists believe that the word cake translated from Italian means something ornate and intricate, and associate it with numerous cake decorations made from a scattering of various colours, inscriptions and ornaments.
Others adhere to a different theory of the origin of cakes. Everyone knows the tastiest sweets of the East, which even a sophisticated gourmet can force to bow before their exquisite taste and charming flavour. Followers of this idea found that the ancient chefs of the most mysterious part of the world were preparing desserts using milk, honey and sesame.

It was in France, in small coffee shops and cafes, that cakes have appeared once, and they conquered the whole world. For many centuries it was French chefs and pastry chefs who dictated the trends in the serving and decoration of this sweet masterpiece.
